Antique Pattern Library is a project of New Media Arts, Inc., a nonprofit organization tax exempt under IRC 501(c)(3); EIN 27-2500171. Our mission is to develop graphical, theatrical, literary, library, and other fine and practical arts in online and virtual reality platforms. We will not give away, share, or sell your email address or any other personal data associated with your donation, except when there's a law saying that we must.

OUR GOALS FOR 2021

  • Finding a new Treasurer (no, seriously, if this speaks to you please let us know).

  • Increasing our editing and publishing rate. Thanks to local volunteers, the scanning goes so fast that I cannot keep up with them. Help in managing the Library would take things off my plate, allowing me to concentrate on actual editing / processing.

  • Upgrading the site so that it shows better on small screens such as tablets or smartphones. Having only a big-screen computer I don't have any experience of the problems our mobile-only users have to work through in order to get to our publications. I am looking around to hire some programmers to improve at least the scrolling through detail images.

  • Providing the individual publications and patterns with suitable meta-tags would be a help too, for which I am looking for some volunteers, preferably people able to handle a spreadsheet and frustrated with the APL search results, as well as having some knowledge about a specific technique such as Irish crochet or tatting, so we can start with the smaller lists first and see what works.

Even though we could not publish much due to other work, some people kept donating! Thank you for your continued trust and enjoy the new publications. Anybody wanting to donate, welcome! By all means! There's a limit (currently about USD 1000) to what you can donate per year and still have it count towards the small donations. It's recalculated every year and if there are a lot of donations, maybe more than once a year. If you donate more, the IRS leaves your donations out of the public support ratio. So, if you were planning to donate 602 USD, buy a cup of coffee and donate USD 1000 ;-) And introducing the Library to people who don't know of it yet, is very useful, since it broadens our user base and therefore our donor base.

Remember all those treasures of the past, hidden, unappreciated, in libraries, moldering on attics, thoughtlessly discarded, never to be seen and used again, unless we get them online. You're not just saving our nonprofit status, or even investing in next week's free patterns. You are connecting the past to the future.
